The Kent and Medway Domestic and Sexual Abuse Executive Group is consulting on a partnership document that details the vision and strategy for reducing domestic abuse across Kent and Medway. By working together to meet the aims and objectives within the strategy, it will help to ensure that programmes to stop domestic abuse occurring are in place, as well as support interventions and services to help people affected by abuse. Also, support to enable survivors to thrive, heal and build resilience across Kent and Medway.
Many different services and providers work to support families and individuals affected by domestic abuse. This strategy will bring the work of partners together, enabling a strong cohesive response, where services are strengthened and aligned to provide a better service for those at risk of or experiencing domestic abuse.
The strategy has three identified areas:
- Early Intervention and Prevention – to stop abuse occurring and prevent escalation
- Immediate Need – the services, interventions and support that people need whilst domestic abuse is occurring and in the immediate aftermath
- Recovery – making sure people have the opportunity to thrive; to recover from the harm, heal and build resilience.
Domestic Abuse is prolific and wide-reaching, affecting many people across Kent and Medway. By working together, we can better help those affected by abuse and reduce the impact in the longer term.
