The Thomas Aveling School in Rochester is proud of every pupil’s achievements, and now particularly proud of Year 9 Kent schoolboy, Adam Banks. During the first Covid lockdown, Cheshire grandmother and family friend, Amy Damatt, invited Adam to draw colourful cartoon-style pictures for a charming children’s story, A Puppy’s Tale by Rex, which she had written.
Easy reading
The story uses simple words and phrases from the perspective of rescued pup Rex, living with his owner and dogs of different ages and sizes in their loving forever home.
Without hesitation, Adam emailed his eye-catching pictures of Rex, his friends, toys and dog accessories to create their first e-book and paperback.
School’s pleasure and pride
Adam’s Headteacher, Mr Paul Jackson, said, “It’s always a pleasure to hear about our students’ achievements outside of school and I am extremely impressed with Adam’s illustrations, which definitely show a uniquely individual style.”
The book is available on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones with some of the proceeds donated to dog rescue charities.
