The Food Train sets off!
In a stylish manner, one must admit:)
The one-of-a-kind train, constructed and maintained by the Ukrainian Railways and financed by Howard G. Buffett Foundation, is already carrying traditional Thanksgiving meals to residents of cities closer to the line of fire and to the Ukrainian emergency workers, paramedics and policemen who do their job tirelessly in the region.
The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Ukrainian Railways CEO Yevhen Liashchenko and Head of Passenger Company Oleksandr Pertsovskyi helped cooking the traditional turkey with cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
Since it’s Thanksgiving, it’s as good opportunity as any to once again say thank you to all our allies. We keep it together thanks to your support. Unlike the Food Train which can work autonomously for up to 7 days (and produce 10,000 hot meals per day using its generators and water supply), all of us in Ukraine can’t win autonomously.
Thankfully, we feel that we are not alone.
