Kent Wildlife Park gets ready for a week of mud-packed mayhem
From Saturday 12 February – Sunday 20 February, Kent’s wildest animal park, Wildwood, will be celebrating the humble Wellington boot in a week of squelchy, mud-filled fun.
Visitors are being called on to put their best (wellied) feet forward for the wettest season of the year and enjoy a host of activities from welly trails and design competitions to Viking bushcraft classes.
Take the welly-trod path
They’ll also be able to explore 42 acres (17ha) of ancient woodland and get up close with more than 40 species of British wildlife, from bison and badgers to wolves and wildcats.
The Welly Trail will see visitors search for hidden boots located around the park and discover which of our native British species are mad about the mud. For something a little less messy, our resident Viking “Eric the Green” will be bringing history to life with sessions on how our ancestors interacted with nature.
Fill up on fun facts… and coffee
Wildwood’s resident animal experts will also be on hand to share lots of fascinating facts about our native British wildlife species.
Visitors looking to quench their thirst can try out the park’s new range of coffees, supplied by local speciality roasters ‘Garage’. And for those looking for a hearty, home-cooked meal after all the mud-ness, the Woodland Café will be serving up daily specials, welly warmer stews and wonderful welly biscuits.

Design a Welly Competition: It’s time to get creative as we want kids to design their very own welly! Simply download and print the template by clicking here, get designing and then hand the end result to our admissions team when you visit the park. A winner will be chosen by our in-house design team and will receive brand-new wellies and an acrylic paint set. Good luck!
Welly Trail: Go on an adventure around the park, searching for the hidden wellies and revealing the name of one of our mud-loving animals.
Viking Bushcraft: (Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th). Book a 30-minute slot in the company of our resident Viking, Erik the Green, and discover how he is fully resourced from nature. Learn how to light a fire the Viking way, weave and perhaps, time permitting, make something from the Early Middle Ages.

Daily Talks: Join our resident animal experts to learn lots of fascinating facts about our native British wildlife. Check our boards at the entrance to the park on the day of your visit for times and locations.
